A SLAB OF DARK GREEN FOAM RISES FROM THE WATER Emerging from the still lagoon A tall man, red-capped Dialect of Western Sydney Steers a square Of dark Green Foam With his young son Holding up the other end Six foot square Thicker than a house brick Home-made fare On its way to the parking bays Not the thing You'd buy in a shop With it's back yard finesse Ingenuity Back yard finesse Ingenuity Unique, Ingenious A slab of dark green foam Rises from the water One of a kind, Sublime A slab of dark green foam Rises from the water The future rests within this prism Code word spells triumphalism Bold ideas, pristine vision It all seems bright from here With it's back yard finesse Ingenuity Back yard finesse Ingenuity Unique, Ingenious A slab of dark green foam Rises from the water One of a kind, Sublime A slab of dark green foam Rises from the water

about

As we count down the sleeps to the currently unknown release date of FRET's new album 'Deep Pockets Of Resistance' the time couldn't be riper to drop the occasional track. A tease, a nibble, an insinuation of what awaits.

On the 20th day of each month FRET will be liberating (by way of Bandcamp) a song destined to appear on the album. Each monthly release will be in digital form only, and accompanied by a minimum of two previously unreleased tracks as well as a set of gold-standard lyrics.*

The initial three releases will form FRET's first official Extended Play, a tantalising precursor to the Long Player earmarked for May 2020 (should the planets align).

- A Slab Of Dark Green Foam Rises From The Water -

As modern life becomes increasingly homogenised and commodified, we honour those who shun the mass-produced, and champion the DIY ethic. We seek a world where difference stimulates, and piques our interest. Bring your art into the world whilst never promoting it as art.

Red-capped man, an organic intrinsic reflection of self.
Incidental hero.

* The above-mentioned previously unreleased tracks will include various rarities, oddities, songs that didn't quite fit the album of the day, instrumentals, cover versions, fragments, slivers, re-mixes, alternate versions, works in progress that progressed no further, and slices of weirdness that even we felt were too weird. Almost all with questionable production values. Retrieved from the cutting room floor for the benefit of the FRET obsessive.

Further, FRET has now uploaded its entire back-catalogue on Bandcamp. Cherry-pick your favourite tracks or gobble an album whole.

about

FRET Sydney, Australia

Fret: Sydney's finest undiscovered band.
Involuntary recluses, empathic outlaws, FRET brings a tangerine scent to the Sydney undergrowth. From the lower Mountains to the rolling waves and north to the Hunter. From the King's X Coke sign to the village of Marricks, the dust settles in an Inner West full-body shuffle. Indie rock / post-punk seduction. Beguiling as the falling leaves. ... more
