about

ISSUE THREE has arrived in the midst of a month like no other. The world is experiencing a wave of COVID-19 related tragedies, and our thoughts go out to any affected by these events, and we all have been to some degree.

ISSUE THREE has necessitated adapting to remote forms of communication and recording approaches. It's had its challenges, and brought with it some delays, but delays, deferments and cancellations are commonplace for the time being. We arrived ultimately, albeit a little late, and our inconveniences are somewhat trivial when contrasted with all other things.

So here we have three tracks with a fragile link to travel. Remember that concept? Three tracks with a different means of conveyance.

Featured track 6.26 Or Thereabouts is a rollicking neo-psych groove careering eastward on autopilot. It explores the realisation of driving at 70 kmh in the very early morning when one hour hence the driver was deep in sleep. Surroundings absorbed scattergun as the gradual yet jolting process of awakening takes hold, and the responsibility of commanding a vehicle sinks in. All aboard The Quizmaster.

Next stop it's a lunar dub instrumental with Sea Of Nectar. Moon travellers clamour for a holiday cabin on the shores of Nectar. Arguably the prettiest sea the moon has to offer in peak or shoulder season.

Finally, Safe Landing sees the protagonist adopting various coping strategies as the unmoored sensation of aircraft turbulence is addressed. Some things are outside of our control.

The other connection here is that all three songs commence with the
letter 'S.' Essophiles would have already noted however that just the one track ends with an S.

Fret: Sydney's finest undiscovered band.
Involuntary recluses, empathic outlaws, FRET brings a tangerine scent to the Sydney undergrowth. From the lower Mountains to the rolling waves and north to the Hunter. From the King's X Coke sign to the village of Marricks, the dust settles in an Inner West full-body shuffle. Indie rock / post-punk seduction. Beguiling as the falling leaves. ... more
